Known as the “place of quiet”, the lodge is nestled in lush bush veld where the roar of the lion can be heard for miles around. Ukutula is conveniently situated within an hour’s drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria. The reserve comprises 260 hectares of unspoiled bush veld boasting a variety of wildlife species, including predator and antelope species, giraffe, zebra and more. Since our inception in 2006, the owners of Ukutula has focused on providing visitors with a top African hospitality experience combined with unforgetable wildlife experiences. We believe that only through personally experiencing Africa’s natural beauty and wildlife, people will be inspired to support wildlife conservation through gained knowledge, care, compassion an an wildlife ethic.
Since 2006, Ukutula has also supported and applied the IUCN’s One-Plan-Approach (OPA) to Species Conservation and Animal Breeding Principals. In fact, due to Ukutula’s commitment to endangered wildlife conservation, the owners took it upon themselves and personally funded the establishment of the Ukutula Conservation Center (UCC) – a world-class wildlife research and education facility, including a scientific Bio-Bank for endangered wildlife species. Research results obtained by researchers at the UCC has already contributed significantly to the conservation of endangered mammal species globally – read more.
